Teaching and learning - Institute of Ophthalmology

There are three levels of teaching at ICOF:

Several ICOF professionals teach subjects in the Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine course. Fifth year students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Barcelona undertake their clinical placements at ICOF and the Hospital Sagrat Cor. Furthermore, they complete their final-year dissertation under the supervision of ICOF professors and also undertake training placements during the 6th year of the degree course.

Every year, ICOF welcomes four doctors to complete their training programme in the following specialty: 

ICOF’s programme is one of the most prestigious in Spain, and efforts are made year after year to improve it.

Various training courses aimed at professionals are organized. There is a weekly general session at the Institute and several sessions covering the different subspecialties. Furthermore, ICOF organizes a continuing training programme through Aula Clínic, which will expand in the coming years with the construction of the new surgical area, featuring a wet lab.
