Teaching and Training - Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service

Teaching is a fundamental cornerstone of the Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Service at the Hospital Clínic. They collaborate closely with the University of Barcelona, providing training to the Faculty of Medicine (degrees in Medicine and Surgery and Biomedical Engineering). They currently have 15 medical residents undertaking their five-year specialized training. From 2025 on, there will be 4 residents per year, and a large percentage of our daily activities will focus on their learning and professional development. 

In addition, they offer internships and fellowship programmes for international specialists, allowing professionals from all over the world to expand their training with them. 

They carry out regular scientific sessions, which include daily discussions of clinical cases, teaching classes twice a week and monthly research meetings. 

The continuous training of their specialists is also a priority. They participate actively in courses and conferences, both national and international, and carry out internships in prestigious centres abroad. Their specialists stand out internationally in the teaching of prosthetic knee and hip surgery, and they organize events such as the Barcelona Knee Meeting an the Barcelona Hip Meeting, which attract prominent experts from all over the world each year.
