Organization - Radiology Department Service

The Radiology Department has a catalogue of scans with codes assigned to each test. Requests are analysed in order to determine their suitability and assign an individualized study protocol, standardized for each clinical situation.

The protocols are revised and updated periodically, in line with new technological and scientific developments.

Organization by area of specialization allows for the adaptation of imaging test indications and places the Department at the forefront in terms of the use of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging techniques.

The Radiology Department at the Hospital Clínic is divided up into the following areas:

  • Abdominal Radiology
  • Genitourinary Radiology
  • Neuroradiology
  • Breast Radiology
  • Musculoskeletal Radiology
  • Thoracic and Cardiac Radiology
  • Vascular and Interventional Radiology

The Department works in coordination with the different departments at the Hospital Clínic to carry out and analyse diagnostic tests, and participates in numerous coordination committees.

The Department has state-of-the-art technology. The following equipment is worthy of note:

  • CT Scanners. The 16, 64 and 128-slice CT scanners can produce very high-definition images with speed and quality.
  • MRI. State-of-the-art MRI scanners obtain images not only of the inside of the body, but also of how the organs function.
  • Robot-assisted Radiology. It has robot-assisted radiology equipment capable of positioning itself in the correct place for each scan. Of particular note is the specific equipment in the interventional section, which is used to resolve vascular problems or to guide any of these interventions using three-dimensional images.
