Teaching - Radiology Department Service
Within the Radiology Department, teaching is essential in order to maintain the professional skills of all its members. It is available to all healthcare and non-healthcare staff.
The following training and teaching activities are currently being led by the centre:
Undergraduate
It participates in undergraduate teaching within the University of Barcelona’s training programme aimed at students who attend the Radiology Department for work experience placements.
Postgraduate
The Department is accredited by the European Board of Radiology as an ETAP (European Training Assessment Programme) centre for training residents.
There are currently five residents each year, as well as external rotators from national and international hospitals who come to receive specific training in different areas of specialization.
The current training is established by the National Specialty Commission in the training programme for resident doctors in Radiodiagnostics, with specific training periods in all areas of knowledge of the specialty.
Residents take part in clinical sessions in the Radiology Department, and in joint sessions with other specialties.
Continuous Education
Continuous education is available to all members of the Department and contributes directly and positively to the introduction of changes and innovations that are essential to this specialty, which is constantly changing and undergoing technological development.
Training of Technicians
The training of ultrasound technicians in the areas of transfontanellar ultrasound, thyroid, supra-aortic trunks, musculoskeletal system, genitourinary system, and peripheral vascular ultrasound.
Training is also provided for technicians in image processing in all sections.
