Care for patients with alopecia at the Clínic

Reading time: 1 min

Care for patients with alopecia at the Clínic follows a comprehensive clinical pathway that begins with an initial consultation, during which the medical and hair history is reviewed in detail, the scalp is examined and any additional tests are performed, such as specific blood tests, high-resolution trichoscopy and targeted biopsies to confirm the histological diagnosis.

Depending on the type of alopecia—particularly in autoimmune and inflammatory forms such as alopecia areata, frontal fibrosing alopecia, lichen planopilaris and cutaneous lupus erythematosus—an individual treatment plan is established. This may include topical therapies, intralesional treatments, immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive drugs, phototherapy or newer systemic therapies.

Follow-up is carried out through regular visits, during which clinical response, inflammatory activity, treatment tolerability and the need to adjust the therapeutic regimen according to disease progression are all assessed.

This process involves collaboration within a multidisciplinary team comprising dermatologists specialising in trichology and autoimmune diseases; dermatopathologists who support histological diagnosis; nursing staff; and specialists from other departments—such as rheumatology, internal medicine and endocrinology—when necessary. This coordinated approach ensures comprehensive, rigorous and continuous management of these complex conditions, which require specialist evaluation and close follow-up.
