Living with the condition

Reading time: 1 min

Alopecia, regardless of the cause, can be a significant emotional challenge, as hair loss directly affects appearance and well-being, often leading to concern, distress or a sense of loss of control.

Although each type of alopecia has its own underlying mechanism, they all share one common factor: general health influences hair. Factors such as stress, lack of sleep, diet and changes in routine can affect both the perception of the condition and its progression.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle can help in managing alopecia:

Person with symbols on the head representing stress, anxiety, confusion, disorientation, headache or migraine

Avoid chronic stress, as it affects the hair cycle and may worsen hair loss.

Bland or astringent diet with rice, fish and bananas

Follow a diet rich in antioxidants, proteins, vitamins and minerals that support keratin production, the main protein of hair.

Person surrounded by sports

Maintain regular exercise, adequate hydration and sufficient rest.

Breathing exercises

Anticipate periods of increased physical or emotional demand so as not to overload the body and compensate with appropriate rest.

Combining medical treatment with these self-care measures provides patients with practical tools to better cope with the condition and manage its impact on daily life.
